Length: One-year Program - Two semesters plus one Summer session

Purpose: This certificate program is designed to prepare individuals for entry-level employment in careers where the gathering and dissemination of information is the primary objective. Journalists and practitioners in affiliated fields may find this program appropriate for updating their abilities and qualifications.

Promotions/Special Events Manager Public Relations Officer

Admissions Requirements: Applicant must meet the general requirements of admission to the college. In addition, entry into the Journalism program requires proficiency in English as measured by appropriate tests administered by the College Counseling department. The ability to type proficiently, although not required, would also be of enormous benefit.

Program Requirements: In order to provide the student with a broad experience in the different types of media, i. e., newspaper, radio and television, the Journalism curriculum will feature courses in Journalism, Mass Media, Radio and Television, Writing for Radio and Television, Photography, and Computer Graphics. These courses are in addition to general courses which are also part of the curriculum. The program also features an internship which will provide an opportunity for students to earn hands-on experience in the field. Students who complete the requirements of the program will be awarded a Certificate in Journalism.
