Length: One-year Program - Two semesters
Purpose: The steady growth of industries in our area creates a steady
demand for skilled machine shop personnel. This curriculum is designed to train
persons for full-time employment upon completion of the program at SVCC.
Occupational Objective:
General Machine Shop
Program Requirements: The Machine Tool Operations program is designed to
prepare students to work as machine shop personnel and to provide them with an
introduction to the use of various types of machine tools used in industries.
The curriculum includes basic courses in the humanities and social sciences to
assist the student in social and business communications. Courses allied to this
technical work, such as blueprint reading, technical report writing, and applied
mathematics are also offered.
Students successfully completing the two semester sequence in this program
receive a Certificate of Completion. Job opportunities for machine shop exist in
many areas, primarily in the manufacturing industries.
