SwVCC is a one of the 23 colleges in the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). The application process to Southwest may be completed online, will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes and is free. But REMEMBER that your acceptance is not completed until the Admissions Office receives all of the information needed for enrollment in your Program of Study as outlined below. Admission Requirements - Please review the information below and on
the next page before completing the
Admission Application.
Note: If applying for admission to one of the Allied Health
programs of Occupational Therapy, Radiography, Respiratory Care, Nursing or
Practical Nursing the
candidate for admission must also submit the
Health Care Program Application (OCT,
RAD, RESPCARE,
Nursing or Practical Nursing)
along with documentation of all program admission requirements
to the Admissions Office by January 15.
STUDENT Readmission - Former students, who have not been enrolled within the last three years and wish to register, must re-apply for admission.
If you plan to pursue a
degree, diploma or certificate, please indicate a
program plan on your application. If you are applying for Financial
Aid, you must choose a program plan. Your program plan may have a
separate application or additional requirements.

Sciences Degree, Associate of Applied Science, Diploma, Certificate
or Career Studies Certificates in your area of interest.
You must submit an Application for In-state Tuition if it has been
more than twelve months since you took a class at SwVCC. NOTE: The
Application for In-state Tuition is included in the
online VCCS Application.
You must take SwVCC's placement tests unless you have transfer credit in math or English or submit adequate official SAT/ACT scores in each area.
It is strongly recommended that all students meet with a counselor/advisor before enrolling in classes. New students must meet with a counselor/advisor before they can enroll.

If you are a high school student interested in dual enrollment classes, contact your high school guidance counselor.
If you have graduated from high school within the past three years, have a copy of your transcript sent to Admissions.
If you are a transfer student from another college, have the institution send an official transcript directly to the Office of Admissions and Records in a sealed envelope.
It is strongly recommended that students planning to transfer to a four year institution work with an advisor/counselor regarding the transfer process.
