The ERC (Experienced Rider Course) is designed to teach experienced motorcyclists skills that will enable the rider to respond with precision and accuracy to unexpected road and traffic situations. The course consists of 4 hours of classroom instruction and 4 hours of hands on riding instruction on the students own motorcycle under controlled course supervision. Due to the demanding nature of the course, 10 hours are required to administer the course, with time for lunch and breaks.
Each ERC student must provide:
valid motorcycle license
his/her own motorcycle properly licensed, inspected and insured
DOT - approved helmet
leather gloves
sturdy over the ankle foot protection
long pants (denim is best)
longsleeve shirt or jacket
rain gear (if needed)
lunch for class meeting days
The instructor will perform a basic inspection of the lights and brakes. If in the opinion of the instructor, the motorcycle is determined to be unsafe, the student will not be allowed to continue.
To be eligible to enroll in either class a student must be at least 16 years of age and will require written parental permission up to age 18. A parent must attend the first class meeting for students under the age of 18.
Students should be in good health. The instructor will make the final decision if the student will be allowed to participate in the riding portion. All course requirements must be met for successful completion.
