Information Technology Standards

Southwest Virginia Community College is committed to maintaining compliance with Information Technology Standards as approved by the VCCS Information Technology Office. The standards listed on this page can be found on the VCCS Information Technology Services Standards website at http://www.vccs.edu/its/standards/index.htm

Hard copies of VCCS Technology and Security guidelines are located in the SwVCC Information Technology office on the 3rd floor of Tazewell Hall.

The Information Security Standard, Version 1.0 outlines the policies by which Information Technology services at Southwest are to be used. These standards are listed below:

1. Student Information System Security Standard - This standard applies to the system known as MYSwVCC at Southwest.

2. Personnel Security Standard - SwVCC Procedures in support of this standard can be found on the  IT Services page

3. Information Technology Employee Acceptable Use Agreement - A signed copy of this agreement must be on file in the SwVCC Human Resources Office for each employee.  This agreement is included in the MOAT Security Awareness Training Southwest Vault.

4. Information Technology Student/Patron Acceptable Use Agreement - This agreement is posted in hard copy in all computer labs and included in the College Catalog and Student Handbook. This agreement is also displayed in each student lab as the browser home page.
