| Search modes in the Online Catalog include Basic, Advanced, or Browse. Browse searches alphabetical listings. Use Browse if you know the title, author, or subject of the item you need. Use Basic (keyword) if you are not sure of exact titles, subjects, authors, etc. Use the drop-down boxes to see all the indexed lists (Browse search) or fields (Basic search) that you can search. Use Advanced to limit your search to a specific material format such as Visual Material to locate videos. | ||||
| To begin a search, choose the mode (Basic, Browse, Advanced) and Type of Search (Keywords Anywhere, Browse Title, etc.). Then enter your search term(s) in the search box provided. Press enter or click on Go. |

| In the results list, click on the # to the left of the item's author & title to see a more detailed view of the item record. Take notice of the Location, Call Number. This tells you where you can find the item in the Library. The Holdings link shows if the item is available (On Shelf) or it will show the item's due date if the item is currently checked out. | ||||
| If it is indicated on the Holdings page that the item is currently checked out (has a Due date), you have the option to Request this Item. If you request the item to be put on hold for you, you will be notified when it is available for you to check out. Please call the Library Circulation Desk to make sure that your contact information is up-to-date. | ||||
