Officials in the Admissions Office at Southwest Virginia Community College announced today that the SwVCC/VATNP Nursing Program is seeking eight to ten well qualified applicants to add to an evening and weekend associate degree Registered Nurse (RN) class beginning in August 2007.
Interested individuals MUST have completed the following courses at SwVCC (or have other college equivalents): ENG 111 and 112, and BIO 141 and 142. The prospective applicant must also submit the college application, the Health Care Technology Application form, high school and college transcripts, complete the COMPASS assessment with an algebra section, and as a final step complete the TEAS Nursing Test when scheduled.
Students accepted into the program will be expected to commit to first year (fall and spring) night and weekend classes. During the fall term of 2007, the first year nursing class (NUR 111) will be taught on the campus of Virginia Highlands Community College in Abingdon on Monday nights, with clinicals on Saturday and Sunday every other weekend. Other nursing program related courses will be offered on the Southwest campus. Students who are successful in these first year courses will be joining the Southwest second year students in the summer of 2008.
Individuals, meeting the above criteria, need to have all application materials submitted to the Southwest Admissions Office by Friday, July 20th.
