SWCC Student Receives Prestigious Math Scholarship
Southwest Virginia Community College student Katherine Wallace (pictured right) has been selected as the recipient of the Glenn Fox VMATYC Mathematics and Computer Science Scholarship.
The Virginia Mathematical Association of Two-Year colleges awarded Wallace a merit scholarship of $400 per semester for the academic year of 2009-2010. “I am thrilled to be able to further my college education. I also sincerely appreciate my math professor, Lisa Henley (pictured left), for nominating me and giving her support for this prestigious scholarship,” said Wallace.
After graduating from SWCC, she plans on transferring to Virginia Tech or Liberty University. She would eventually like to pursue a Master’s degree and aspires to become a math teacher for middle/high school students.
Wallace is the daughter of Tim and Jackie Wallace of Cleveland, VA. She is the granddaughter of Margaret Wallace, of Cleveland, VA and Clarence and Kate Witt of Claypool Hill, VA.
