Transfer Information

Transfer Programs  include Business Administration, Education, Engineering, General Studies, Liberal Arts, and Science. Each of these degrees incorporate universal courses required during the first two years of a four year degree, specific courses for a major, and a number of free electives.  With the AA&S Degree, the SwVCC graduate should transfer with junior status to the majority of senior institutions.

A student transferring to a senior institution has two important decisions to make: 1) a college major and 2) the preferred senior institution.  Students are encouraged to develop a plan so that SwVCC course work matches that of the selected senior institution.

Students who are unsure of transfer choices may receive assistance from SwVCC's counselors or advisors.  Project ACHIEVE students may receive assistance from the transfer counselor.

SwVCC's Student Development Services Division hosts representatives from popular, local senior institutions during November of each year. SwVCC has developed articulation agreements with many senior institutions which provide for special consideration in regard to course transfer, as is the case with Virginia Tech and UVA at Wise. These agreements are based on completing the two-year degree at SwVCC.
